Who is Legal Aid?

Legal Aid is a non-profit law firm founded in 1908.  We help low-income people achieve economic security and family stability by resolving their civil, (non-criminal) legal problems.

What does Legal Aid do?

Legal Aid provides free legal help for civil legal problems including information, advice and representation.  Issues we can address include: resolving custody and visitation concerns, problems that interfere with job training or employment, securing protection orders, representing in eviction or foreclosure situations, preventing lockouts or utility cutoffs by landlords, or school discipline removals.

We will make referrals to other organizations if we are unable to help. We also have self- help information and forms on our website in the SELF HELP section.

Do you take criminal cases?

No we do not handle any criminal or traffic cases.

What is the difference between Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati and Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC.

Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC (LASSO) is an affiliate of Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati (LASGC)  It was established in 2007 when LASGC expanded from a three to seven county service area.  All requests for assistance from LASSO are handled, according to a management agreement, through a central reception and intake system managed by Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati.   All Administrative, Fundraising and Communications are also managed, according to the same management agreement, by LASGC.  LASSO does not receive any funding from the Legal Services Corporation.
